Independent Home Access Through Automation
The Challenge
A participant who uses a wheelchair was unable to leave or enter his home independently.
The Solution
Following consultation and assessment, Smart Lifestyle Solutions designed and implemented a fully integrated accessibility solution including:
- Automated front sliding gate and Automated front entry door
- Widening of the front doorway to improve accessibility
- Automated lighting control throughout key living areas
- Home network upgrades to support smart technologies
- Voice control integration for lighting and door operation
- Mobile app and RF remote-control access
- Integration of the door and gate with a video intercom system
- PIN code access for family members and support personnel
The Outcome
The participant can now independently enter and exit his home without requiring assistance from carers or family members.

Improving Safety and Communication for a Hearing-Impaired Participant
The Challenge
A participant with a hearing impairment was unable to hear visitors arriving at the front door.
There was also concern regarding personal safety because traditional smoke alarms did not provide a suitable warning method in the event of a fire emergency.
The Solution
Smart Lifestyle Solutions implemented an integrated safety and notification system that included:
- Automated lighting control
- Video intercom system
- Smart integration of the smoke alarm system
- Visual smoke alarm and doorbell notifications through flashing lights
- Mobile app notifications with haptic feedback
- Mobile app control of lighting systems
The Outcome
The participant now receives visual and tactile notifications whenever a visitor arrives, allowing her to identify visitors using a mobile device.
In the event of a smoke alarm activation, automated flashing lights provide a clear visual warning, significantly improving safety within the home.
